ISTH NATIONAL CONFERENCEBackground
Ragley Hall in Alcester, Warwickshire was chosen as the setting for the finale to a week-long congress held at Birmingham's ICC for 6000 delegates to the Annual Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH).
Requirement
Event Organiser, Spencer Digby had chosen the typically English theme of a country fete for the event held, in the beautiful grounds of 17th century Hall.
All the sights and sounds of an English country fete needed to be brought to life for the evening at Ragley,
Snowdens Solution
The event required a very large but traditional style of marquee and other structures. In total Snowdens provided 55,000 square feet of marquee coverage, including 90 X 490 ft pole marquee for a dining area - one of the largest of its kind within the marquee industry, 7,200 square feet of kitchen area, 2,700 square feet for staff compounds and 900 square feet of bar area. Plus 520 square feet of storage area and 600 square feet of toilet cover. All structures were provided complete with flooring and carpet.
To comply with the theme of a country fete, Snowdens decided to use a rustic wooden style for the furniture, and 150m of trussing with coloured gels and intelligent moving heads for the lighting in the main dining area.
Benefit
1,800 international guests were treated to a host of varied and unusual entertainment, including archery, falconry, fairground rides and stalls, and even welly wanging and ferret racing!
After a tour of Ragley Hall, guests sat down to a traditional buffet supper whilst enjoying entertainment from magicians and folk musicians. After a nostalgic performance by the Bootlet Beatles, the evening closed with a dramatic firework display, lighting up Ragley's grounds.
The entire event looked spectacular, and thanks to Snowdens and Spencer Digby, there is no doubt that delegates to the ISTH Congress will leave the Midlands with fond memories of their very English experience!
